I follow several beauty and fashion bloggers on Instagram and noticed some of them giving rave reviews to Milani’s moisture matte lipsticks.
Typically, I am no fan of matte lipsticks because the ones I’ve tried make my lips feel dry. However, the bloggers mentioned these had a hint of moisture in them, so I figured I’d give them a try. Plusone of my favorite lipstick shades is Milani brand.
Just my frugal luck that they are on sale this week at CVS for $2.99. They normally are $5.99. Also, if you have a CVS rewards card and spend $10 on Milani products you’ll get $3 in Extra Bucks. You can thank me later.
Since they were so cheap, I bought four. P.S. Make sure you look at the tubes because one of the lipsticks I bought is their regular formula and not matte. It was misplaced, but I’m going to keep it and review it because I love the color.
Matte Diva (63): I love a bright lip and because mattes don’t have any sheen or shimmer, it makes the color pop. However, this color just didn’t work for me. It’s one of those pretty in the tube, but horrible on me shades. Also, this one felt dry and even though I exfoliated my lips before applying (super key when rocking mattes) and used a lip brush to apply the color, I couldn’t get it to go on smoothly.
It wasn’t so bad when I added a light layer of lip balm, but that defeats the purpose.
Matte Passion (66): This one felt better on my lips, but I wasn’t feeling the color on me. It’s a bright red with orange in it, but did nothing for me. Pass.
It looks more orange than red on me. Womp.
Matte Confident (67): I. Love. This. One. OMG, this one feels so smooth and has such a sultry look. It’s a dark red that will pop with minimal makeup and a jaw dropping LBD. Yes, I have it all figured out in my head. This one is a keeper for sure. I might even go back and get another tube because as soon as I love something, the company decides to discontinue it. Sigh.
This photo isn’t doing it justice, but just trust me that it is the bomb!
Orange-Gina (03): This is the non-matte that I picked up that was misplaced. I love it so with me it stays. Actually, I think I might either own or owned this one because the name sounds familiar. I’m really embarrassed to tell you how many lipsticks I own. Let’s just say I’ve got a mini Sephora going on. *Hangs head in shame*
Overall, I would say try them, especially since they are on sale. I’m going to go back and see if I see any other shades I like!
