I’m not going to lie, I can’t recall a One Direction song without using Google. The only thing I know about them is that all the tweens and teens go crazy over these guys.
Well, I was pretty surprised when I saw the boy band is also in the beauty business with a makeup line. I mean really, what could these young men know about makeup? Well, to my surprise, they know a bit.
I was given their new limited edition makeup line to try. There are three collections that are inspired by the bands albums: “Midnight Memories”, “Take Me Home” and “Up All Night”. I received the Up All Night tin, which includes a 4+1 eye shadow in blues, a pink and a nude, “Little Black Dress’ volumizing mascara, “Na Na Na” aqua-blue nail polish, “Taken” glitter pink lip gloss, “I Should Have Kissed You” bubblegum pink lipstick and “Stand Up” a dark blue eye and body cream stick. As a bonus, the collection also came with a pack of stencils to use on your body or your stuff like notebooks, etc.
At first I was worried that the line would be too teenybopper for me, and some of the products are, but some things will work in my day-to-day make-up routine. For instance, I wasn’t a fan of the lipstick. I’m no stranger to a bold lip, but that shade was horrible on me and I didn’t like the way it went on. It was streaky and thick.
While I was no fan of the lipstick, I liked the lip gloss. It has a high pigment and it does have glitter in it, but it’s not too sparkly. The downside about the glitter is that you can feel it on your lips when you rub them together. I’ve never experienced that with my other glitter glosses, but it isn’t not a deal breaker.
The mascara was just eh. I’ll stick with my tried and true Maybelline or CoverGirl. The nail polish is pretty light and will take about three coats, but it’s pretty. The eye and body stick went on smooth and I would probably use it as a liner like I did here.
On my right eye (your left) I used the blue shades. I wasn’t feeling the glitter one because it went on weird. My left eye (your right) I used the pink and the nude and liked those as a base or alone when I want something light on the eye. I don’t have on a full-face, but you get the idea.
