Indianapolis Black Expo Summer Celebration

For 44 years, the Indianapolis Black Expo Summer Celebration has been the thing to do for the African-American community in Indianapolis and surrounding areas.

People from Michigan, Illinois and beyond come to see the vendors, celebs and more. I’ve been going off and on since I was in elementary school. Now that I only have to drive a few minutes to the convention center, I try to go more often.

In addition to checking out the vendors and the health fair, I’m always interested in the workshops, celebs and of course, fashions. I’m not sure how long they’ve been doing fashion shows at expo, but I was really excited for this one because “Project Runway” star, Korto Momolu was showcasing her fashions.

I’ve never watched “Project Runway” but after seeing her fashions, I’m giving the side-eye to the judges for making her second place each of the three times she’s participated on the show. Her creations were dope, but it wasn’t just her, the local designers showed up and showed out too! I saw several pieces I was ready to add to my closet.

With all the bad news coming out of Indy, it’s nice to see men and women doing positive things and making a name for themselves and the city.

I took so many pictures that I decided to make a photo gallery for you to enjoy!

Great pictures, it’s good to know there is so much talent here in the city. Were there very many Indianapolis designers or just a few?
