I did it. I finally did it! I went to an estate sale. I’ve been wanting to go to one for at least a year and a half.
I was on my way to the store when I saw signs alerting me that an estate sale was near. Since I had some time, I followed the signs to see what treasures might await me.
I’ve always known estate sales exist but didn’t think about them until I saw a thrifting blogger talk about all the steals she’s gotten from estate sales. So, I signed up to receive alerts from Estate Sales. Net some time ago and I’ve been oohing and ahhing over them since. They post pics of the items up for grabs, which is a big plus.
Maybe it’s me, but I find it kind of weird to just walk in someone’s house and go all up in their stuff, but that’s the point of the sales, right?
The sale was one I had seen in my alerts, so I was familiar with some of the things that would be up for grabs.
I’ll admit, I wasn’t really chomping at the bit to go to this one, but I figured it was at least worth the experience and to get a feel for how things are priced at estate sales.
The prices are definitely not garage sale prices, but more like resale pricing. The prices are fair, but if you’re a reseller or thrifty person, know what you’re willing to spend and what you want and stick to it.
I didn’t purchase anything this time as there wasn’t much there I wanted, but I’m looking forward to going to another one soon!
Have you been to an estate sale? What did you think?
