On June 28, 2014, I was able to cross another artist off my concert bucket list. Yes, ladies and gents I finally saw the Queen herself, Ms. Beyonce Knowles-Carter. Oh yea, Jay-Z was there too. I’ve seen him in concert before, so I really was there for Bey.
Even if you’re not a fan of Beyonce the show is worth it just to see the performance element. It really is an experience.
While I’m talking about the concert, can I tell you about the “interestingly” dressed folks I saw there? I am so glad I’ve reached an age where I don’t need to be in super high heels and club attire to attend an OUTDOOR concert. I lost count of how many women I saw wearing stilletos, tight skirts/dresses and all other types of “bless your heart” clothing at the concert held at a baseball field OUTDOORS.
My husband said it’s because they were ready to go to the after-party. I thought it was because they thought they were going to get chose, but either way, couldn’t they have left the heels in the car? I’m not going to lie, I got a good chuckle watching chicks stumble up and down the stairs. And then as we were leaving the concert, one lady had taken her high heels off and was walking barefoot in the streets. A mess!
I love heels, but I also know when and where to wear them. I’ll admit, I had it in my mind to wear heels, but the way my feet are set up….
Instead, I chose comfort. If I have to move around a lot, comfort always wins. Always.
I thought it was very fitting for me to rep the Notorious B.I.G. at the concert since he and Jay are both “Brooklyn boys.” In addition to being comfy, it’s a great idea to get a crossbody purse so you don’t have to lug around a big bag or try to keep up with a clutch like I saw some women doing.
P.S. Heels at an indoor concert is fine, but keep in mind if you like to stand and groove, put on flats.
What is your concert attire?
