Sometimes people think if you love fashion you must be superficial or materialistic. While that may be true of some fashionistas, I see garments as art. Since I can’t really draw or paint, and I’m terrified of singing in public, clothing has always been a way for me to express myself.
Whether I’m happy, feeling tomboyish or feminine, I believe that your fashion choices should always create moments. After all, the streets are your runway and you better work it, honey! Apparently I’m not the only one who sees fashion as art. On May 17 the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) will host a fashion show fusing art and design. *Swoon* Members of ASID are will create one of a kind couture chairs for the event and Berny Martin, creator of Midwest Fashion Week will offer the fashions.
Expect to see vibrant spring and summer fashions that you can wear for the day and gowns for special occasions, organizers told me. In addition to bringing you hot off the runway fashions, the event serves a fundraiser for the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership (INHP). Organizers said 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit the group’s mission of helping families become homeowners.I’m looking forward to the event.
